Hunton Legg (Running Gear) Ltd. was formed when Brian Legg Trailers purchased the ‘rights’ to the Hunton Agric. & Ind. Axle manufacturing business in 1989. Brian Legg Trailers have been active in the trailer world since the 1960s when founder Mr. Brian Legg (1932-2003) started manufacturing trailers and supplying components & spares. His son, Mark, joined the business in 1980.

The current company has two complementary divisions. Firstly, the manufacturing of agricultural and industrial machinery both for home and export markets. Secondly, the supply of spare parts for existing machinery and ‘Running Gear’ components for the self – build/conversion customer and also O.E./manufacturers.

The purchase of stock from ex-manufacturers, including ‘Whitlock’ in the 1970’s and ‘Wheatley’ and ‘Pettit’ in the 1980s, expanded the spare parts and services division of the business. In the mid 1990s, the rights to manufacture the Howard Rotaspreader and Needham Rolls were acquired which widened the product range. During 2001 the company purchased the manufacturing rights of the Multispreader (Auger Drive Muckspreader), Rollermower, Grass Slitters, Rotary Brush & Side Spreader (Rotary Spreader) that were formally manufactured by Dowdeswell (NFKO) Ltd. Most of these products are now available again and sold under the Hunton Legg brand. The company’s range was expanded further with the FRASER products being acquired during 2005. The current new generation of trailers incorporates the Dow/McConnel range, purchased in 2007.

Following the purchase of Hunton Axles in 1989, WKN Axles in 1995 and Undergear Axles in 1999, we have been able to manufacture axles and spring sets ‘in house’ as well as supplying products from various European manufactures, for which we also hold large stocks of spares. We also hold the remaining stock of ‘Salati’ (Italian axles) spare parts purchased from the original importers.

Being a specialist company in the Agricultural field, and still family controlled (2nd generation), with efficient, practical and personal contact available, we can quickly advise and supply both new fully finished Trailers and Machinery or service your agricultural equipment problems including replacements parts for trailed machinery both modern and aged.

In 2007 Hunton Legg (Running Gear) Ltd. relocated from its original premises at Hemingstone near Ipswich in Suffolk, to premises not far away in Bruisyard near Saxmundham, Suffolk

In September 2022 Hunton Legg (Running Gear) Ltd. are on the move again! This time, while streamlining our business, we are still operating from the beautiful Suffolk countryside, and supplying our customers from all corners of the UK.
